【Abstract】Complex systems consist of both software and hardware. While hardware reliability is a well-development area, software reliability is much more difficult to deal with. Software reliability is especially important for safety critical systems when operations are managed and monitored by digital control instruments. For example, many incidents of rail (railway) transportation accidents are traced to the problem with software reliability. Research on software reliability has been going on for a few decades, but few models have been successfully applied in practice. In this talk, we will discuss some of the issues related to software reliability models with the emphasis on software testing and system reliability analysis. Some useful models will be presented and some research issues will also be discussed.(复杂系统由软件和硬件组成🤥。硬件的可靠性研究已有近百年历史🧑🏻‍🏫，软件可靠性相对还是一个新的领域。复杂系统的操作与管理是由软件来控制，特别是与安全相关的系统，软件起了非常重要作用。软件可靠性的研究已经有20-30年的历史，至今对于软件可靠性的问题也没有一个很好的解决办法，相反这个问题随着软件规模和复杂度的增加越来越严重。这个报告里我们首先讨论一些软件系统可靠性建模与分析中的一些问题🤵🏻‍♀️，包括软硬件系统👨🏻‍🦼，软件测试和系统的可靠性分析，介绍一些实用的软件可靠性模型，也讨论其中的一些问题。) 

【Bio】M. Xie did his undergraduate study at Royal Inst of Technology in Sweden and received his MSc in 1984. Later he received his PhD from Linkoping University, Sweden in 1987. Dr Xie joined the National University of Singapore in 1991 as one of the first recipients of the prestigious Lee Kuan Yew research fellowship. In May 2011, Prof Xie moved to City University of Hong Kong as Chair professor of industrial engineering. Prof Xie has published over 200 SCI papers and 8 books, including “Software Reliability Modelling” by World Scientific, “Weibull Models” by John Wiley, “Stochastic Aging and Dependence for Reliability” by Springer, “Advanced QFD Applications” by ASQ Quality Press. He is an editor, associate editor and on the editorial board of more than 15 international journals. Prof Xie is an elected fellow of IEEE. （谢旻博士曾于1978年以全国第一名的成绩考入中国科技大学少年班，入校第二学期被选派到瑞典留学👨🏿，于1987年获得博士学位。谢博士现任香港城市大学系统工程及工程管理系讲座教授，理工学院副院长，之前在新加坡国立大学任教20年👩🏼‍🎓。谢教授一直从事质量与可靠性研究工作🧑🏼‍🏫，发表SCI论文200余篇，出版了8本专著𓀎。谢教授培养了30余名质量与可靠性博士毕业生🦹🏻‍♀️，他也在20种相关的国际杂志担任编辑或编委🀄️，多次担任国际会议主席或受邀作大会主题报告。谢教授2005年当选为IEEE Fellow。）
